Deck the cats
...in holiday tshirts. Meow meow meow meow meow, meow meow meow meow.
In this photo we see Charlie looking wistfully to the future, to the day where she is too fat to fit in to any ridiculous costumes -- the day after she finally fulfills her cat dream of getting in to the food bag.
Some people think pet costumes are mean. To that I say, ask us sometime what Charlie did to our bed. I can't even write about it. She had this coming.

So glad you were on craigslist.
A year, a week, and six days ago today, on Walker's 27th birthday, we drove to a vet in Arthur to pick up a cat we had adopted sight unseen off of craigslist. We could have her, but only if we agreed to have her fixed, and not until we had her fixed. Her owner had dropped her at the vet that morning.
That evening we picked up a glassy eyed, sedated, 5 lb, year old cat name Caticula with a shaved pink belly. I asked the vet, is she blind? No, just sedated, said the vet.
In the last year she has packed on two pounds, and changed her name to Charlie Wickett. We now know that her eyes are always glassy.
Also in the last year, Frankie (shout out to Logan County Animal Control -- wooooo!) has developed a pretty impressive older sister death stare. You can really feel her pain as she watches Charlie eat from both food bowls and then block her from getting to hers.

Holy Awesome Mail Streak!
Like the subject says! We got mail! Walker, Charlie, Frankie and I got home from a day of work, veterinarian visits, watching the Amish plow a field with horses in Arthur, and intensive thrifting in Mattoon & Charleston (I love you spring break), to find a package awaiting us!
Thank you Leslie for the awesome day of the dead bride and groom! We love them!
They are wirey and posable, just like Walker (see picture)! Unfortunately, even Yoda couldn't spark enthusiasm in Frankie, who got three shots and spent over two hours in the car.
Also in the package was this rad hat, that I know D had emailed me about previously, but I never emailed back about. I'm so bad this term (Sorry, D!). It is super cute, but I'm still pretty hell bent on finding the perfect 50's floral half-hat.
Thanks, Leslie and D!

Midterms in Jar City

Invitation stock has arrived and will soon be whisked to FedEx for printing. We found a great company out of Michigan that sells brightly colored, quality paper from a hydro powered mill. The "whitewash" stock that almost everything will be printed on is 100% recycled/30% post-consumer, and at the moment I can't find that stats on the Poptone "tangy orange" envelopes or "lemondrop" cardstock for the insert cards. We're skipping RSVP cards and envelopes -- it's all on the website.

Picture frame and coffee mug acquisition is also underway.
Now for the wild successes that bring great joy to our tired midterm minds.
We are 90% certain we have found our photographer at long last. I'm not posting her here yet because the contracts aren't signed, and I'd die if someone swooped in and took her from us as a result of my bragging online about how awesome she is, how local she is, how great her work it, how affordable she is, and how she's available on our wedding day. We were waiting for a sign and one came. She was married on the same farm last year. Done. She's out of the country the next two weeks, then contracts are getting signed.
And second, yesterday, we hit the jar jackpot at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore! They have the best stuff, the best prices, and their employees and volunteers are so much fun in this hoarding process. So I have pretty high expectations when I go into the Restore, but this score was above and beyond my expectations. I wish I had a photo of the what the shelves looked like when I walked in on Saturday. I almost started crying.

One hundred thirty four pint size mason jars, 23 quart size mason jars, including this awesome Knox jar, that is definitely a keeper. Bam!

We are happy to give a home to the displaced crochet doilies of the world.

Shooooes!
It's been a little light on the Walker related content since I've been HHF (hat/headband/fascinator) obsessing. So here is some Walker for your enjoyment:
